Sara is being recognized as part of the first-ever Women Run the World Relay & Mentorship Program. Honorees will pair up with a high school mentee from the New York Road Runners’ Run for the Future program and run or walk a one-mile leg of the course as part of a relay team. The honorees also will invite their mentees to spend a day with them at the office or participate in a Skype conversation.

After the race, there will be an awards ceremony to celebrate the runners and Women Run the World honorees. Other women being recognized include Orange Is the New Black actress Danielle Brooks, Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi and president of the WNBA Lisa Borders.

Sara’s musical, Waitress, is currently in previews on Broadway and last night she took the stage to entertain the crowd when the show ran into some technical difficulties. According to BroadwayWorld.com, part of the set for the diner stopped working. While the production paused to fix the problem, Sara came out and sang a cut song from the show as well as “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. She also took some selfies with the audience.
