Lady Gaga will join Vice President Joe Biden at an event in Las Vegas next week to bring attention to the problem of sexual assaults on college campuses, a spokeswoman for the VP confirms.
The two will speak at the University of Nevada Las Vegas on April 7 as part of the administration’s “It’s On Us” initiative, aiming to bring awareness to and end campus sexual assaults.
“Lady Gaga is brave and sincere. She’s a survivor who has the courage to speak out, and I know how difficult that can be. We’ve talked at length and I admire her courage — everyone can see it because it’s on display. She encourages so many other women to step forward,” Biden said in an interview with Billboard.
At the Oscars last month, the vice president introduced Lady Gaga, a survivor of sexual assault herself, ahead of her performance of “Til It Happens to You,” the nominated song she co-wrote with Diane Warren for The Hunting Ground, a documentary on sexual assault on college campuses.
Just yesterday, Secretary of State John Kerry introduced Biden at an event as “Lady Gaga’s friend.”
