Before Coldplay takes the stage for the Super Bowl halftime show next week, you’ll be able to take a look back at some of the best halftime performances in Super Bowl history. CBS is airing Super Bowl’s Greatest Halftime Shows two days before the big game on Friday, February 5.
The special will highlight past shows, as well as feature new interviews with some of the most memorable halftime performers — including last year’s performer Katy Perry and 2014 headliner Bruno Mars.
Also featured on the special will be Bono, who performed with U2 in 2002; Sir Paul McCartney, who took the stage in 2005; and Beyonce, who performed in 2013 and likely will be joining Coldplay on stage this year.
A variety of producers, journalists, music executives and former NFL personnel will be sharing their memories of past performances like Michael Jackson’s 1993 show and Madonna’s 2012 spectacle, among many others.
The special, narrated by NCIS: Los Angeles star Chris O’Donnell, airs at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. Super Bowl 50 airs live from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, February 7 at 6:30 p.m. ET on the same network. The Denver Broncos are playing the Carolina Panthers.
