Bon Jovi had to release six singles before they scored their first #1 hit, but Jon Bon Jovi’s hit a home run with his very first foray into the wine business.
Earlier this year, Jon and his son Jesse Bongiovi launched Diving Into Hampton Water, a rosé created in partnership with French winemaker Gérard Bertrand. A blend of three different grapes, the pink stuff sells for about $25 a bottle. And now, the prestigious magazine Wine Spectator has named it the best rosé of 2018.
On the publication’s list of the Top 100 Wines of the Year, there are only two rosés, and the most highly rated one is Diving Into Hampton Water, coming in at #83 and earning a 90-point rating out of 100. The other one came in at #93 on the list.
“A nicely crafted rosé, with a hint of creamy richness lining the strawberry, melon and white cherry flavors. A dash of minerality imparts depth through the long, mouthwatering finish. A crowd-pleaser…drink now,” writes the magazine.”
In a statement to People magazine, Jon said, “It’s an incredible honor to be on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2018, let alone ranked as the top rosé. It’s a true testament to all of our hard work and I could not be more proud to share our excitement for, and love of, Hampton Water with people all over the world.”
The wine got its name from Jesse: He started calling the rosé wine that the Bon Jovi family enjoyed while on vacation in New York’s Hamptons “Hampton Water” because they drank so much of it.
